The Central point in George Orwell 1984?

I need help detremining george Orwell's central point of this passage,i also need help on explaining how orwell developed this point considering literary elements as diction,imagery,tone ,theme or syle
Here is the passage

Winston had woken up with his eyes full of tears. Julia
rolled sleepily against him, murmuring something that might
have been 'What's the matter?'
'I dreamt-' he began, and stopped short. It was too
complex to be put into words. There was the dream itself, and
there was a memory connected with it that had swum into his
mind in the few seconds after waking.
He lay back with his eyes shut, still sodden in the
atmosphere of the dream. It was a vast, luminous dream in which
his whole life seemed to stretch out before him like a
landscape on a summer evening after rain. It had all occurred
inside the glass paperweight, but the surface of the glass was
the dome of the sky, and inside the dome everything was flooded
with clear soft light in which one could see into interminable
distances. The dream had also been comprehended by — indeed,
in some sense it had consisted in — a gesture of the arm made
by his mother, and made again thirty years later by the Jewish
woman he had seen on the news film, trying to shelter the small
boy from the bullets, before the helicopter blew them both to
pieces.
'Do you know,' he said, 'that until this moment I believed
I had murdered my mother?'
'Why did you murder her?' said Julia, almost asleep.
'I didn't murder her. Not physically.'
In the dream he had remembered his last glimpse of his
mother, and within a few moments of waking the cluster of small
events surrounding it had all come back. It was a memory that
he must have deliberately pushed out of his consciousness over
many years. He was not certain of the date, but he could not
have been less than ten years old, possibly twelve, when it had
happened.
His father had disappeared some time earlier, how much
earlier he could not remember. He remembered better the
rackety, uneasy circumstances of the time: the periodical
panics about air-raids and the sheltering in Tube stations, the
piles of rubble everywhere, the unintelligible proclamations
posted at street corners, the gangs of youths in shirts all the
same colour, the enormous queues outside the bakeries, the
intermittent machine-gun fire in the distance — above all, the
fact that there was never enough to eat. He remembered long
afternoons spent with other boys in scrounging round dustbins
and rubbish heaps, picking out the ribs of cabbage leaves,
potato peelings, sometimes even scraps of stale breadcrust from
which they carefully scraped away the cinders; and also in
waiting for the passing of trucks which travelled over a
certain route and were known to carry cattle feed, and which,
when they jolted over the bad patches in the road, sometimes
spilt a few fragments of oil-cake.
When his father disappeared, his mother did not show any
surprise or any violent grief, but a sudden change came over
her. She seemed to have become completely spiritless. It was
evident even to Winston that she was waiting for something that
she knew must happen. She did everything that was needed –
cooked, washed, mended, made the bed, swept the floor, dusted
the mantelpiece — always very slowly and with a curious lack
of superfluous motion, like an artist's lay- figure moving of
its own accord. Her large shapely body seemed to relapse
naturally into stillness. For hours at a time she would sit
almost immobile on the bed, nursing his young sister, a tiny,
ailing, very silent child of two or three, with a face made
simian by thinness. Very occasionally she would take Winston in
her arms and press him against her for a long time without
saying anything. He was aware, in spite of his youthfulness and
selfishness, that this was somehow connected with the
never-mentioned thing that was about to happen.
He remembered the room where they lived, a dark,
closesmelling room that seemed half filled by a bed with a
white counterpane. There was a gas ring in the fender, and a
shelf where food was kept, and on the landing outside there was
a brown earthenware sink, common to several rooms. He
remembered his mother's statuesque body bending over the gas
ring to stir at something in a saucepan. Above all he
remembered his continuous hunger, and the fierce sordid battles
at mealtimes. He would ask his mother naggingly, over and over
again, why there was not more food, he would shout and storm at
her (he even remembered the tones of his voice, which was
beginning to break prematurely and sometimes boomed in a
peculiar way), or he would attempt a snivel

the central message that orwell is trying to get across in this book is that memories will resurface at some point no matter how deep they are buried – perhaps suggesting that all the brainwashing being carried out by Big Brother may not be as effective as the rest of the book leads us to believe

How do you work a WordPress custom theme?

Okay I need major help. I used to have various blogs on various sites and today I have signed up and payed for my own domain, the only trouble is that I can’t work the template. I downloaded a template directly from WordPress and tried to edit the CSS. I know how to put the code and change HTML but it still doesn’t show the full theme and ruins the one I had picked before even when I start from scratch. Am I editing the wrong thing? Please help!!

It is difficult to answer your question without knowing exactly what changes you made to which files.

To recover, you may upload a fresh copy of the theme, then from within the Dashboard under Design > Theme Editor make a small change to the theme you have selected, then save it and examine the result by viewing your blog. Keep making small changes until you get the effect you want. If things blow up, just redo the last change.

Being off one character can cause problems, so be patient and methodical.

Good luck!

Is the Thesis Theme for WordPress any good?

I have been hearing a lot about how WordPress themes are not very optimized for the search engines, and came across a blog post mentioning that it was the best out there. Anybody have experience using the Thesis Theme for WordPress?

It's a very attractive, very flexible theme. It will, however, cost you some money: $87, last I heard. (Which is not much more than I spent on Movable Type before switching to WordPress, come to think of it.)

There is an SEO plugin for WP which is supposed to be able to do the optimization on any theme whatsoever, but I haven't tried it.

Wordpress Calendar in Sidebar?

I just downloaded a theme, but the problem is the calendar inside the sidebar doesn't show like the rest of the sidebar. See the screenshot:

http://s537.photobucket.com/albums/ff337…

The background doesn't show and there is no left or bottom margin/padding/whatever you call it!

Is this a error thing or is it just not styled like the others? Where and how can I change it? I can't find anything about the calendar inside the css or sidebar files. Help!
Sorry, here is the right URL

http://s537.photobucket.com/albums/ff337/Deidredup/?action=view&current=wpscreen.gif

Well the calendar is styled using the CSS, so you will have to set various values according to your requirements

Paper due tomorrow. Worried about this paragraph…?

The main page of the website makes it obvious that it is geared towards the adolescent female, because the only picture you see on the home page are of a group of young girls. When first visiting the homepage it is hard to figure out the team of the website. Upon further observation you see a quote, “Bringing Girls’ Voices to the World.” However, this still provides a vague idea of what the website consists of. Although the homepage gives you a fogy idea of what the content of the website holds, it makes the visitor curios for more information. There are links on the left and right of the large picture of young females. The links include: New Moon Magazine, Letter to Congress, Affiliates, Press Room, New Moon Blog, New Moon Club, Shop our Store, Resources, FAQ, and About Us. These links provide a cure to the curiosity. These links are clearly marked, making it easy to find subtopics and to navigate through out the entire site. The organizational plan used by the site matches well with the subject and theme because the links are clearly marked, making it easy for younger children to find. Also, the wording and vocabulary is easy to understand. Because the magazine is advertisement free the photos, and artwork presented throughout the website support the theme of the magazine. The photos are of real girls that you can relate to, and the artwork is geared towards the appropriate age group. Also, you will not fine any flashy neon colored sine begging you to subscribe to the magazine. This reinforces the idea of having an advertisement free publication.

The main page of the website "is obviously geared toward" the adolescent female, because the only picture "seen on the home page "is" of a group of young girls. When first visiting the homepage"," it is "difficult to determine" the "theme" of the website. Upon further observation, "there is a" quote, “Bringing Girls’ Voices to the World.” "Still, this appears to be a vague interpretation" of what the website truly consists of. Although the homepage "provides" an unclear overview" of what the content of the website holds, it makes the "viewer interested in knowing more about the website". There are links on the left and right side of the webpage that will direct you to places like: New Moon Magazine, Letter to Congress, Affiliates, Press Room, New Moon Blog, New Moon Club, Shop our Store, Resources, FAQ, and About Us. These links "are clearly marked, making it easy to find subtopics and navigate "throughout" the entire site. The organizational plan used by the site matches well with the subject and "it's" theme because the links are clearly marked, making it easy for younger children to "navigate". "I found the wording style and vocabulary choices reaqder friendly". Because the magazine is advertisement free", the photos and the artwork presented throughout the website support the theme of the magazine. The photos are of real girls that "one can" relate to, and the artwork is geared "toward an appropriate age group as well". Also, you will not "find annoying flashing neon sineage enticing your subscription to the magazine. This, "in my opinion", reinforces the "reasoning behind" an advertisement-free publication.

To be used by someone who is not internet savvy.

I need some help with wordpress!

WIth the relatively-new wordpress dashboard design, when I’m writing a post, I can’t seem to add pictures to posts anymore Anyone know waht to do?

Above the post content box you’ll have your menu bar. Click on the media icon called pictures/images.

A pop-up box will appear that allows you to add pictures to your post. If it’s a image that you are wanting to store on your website, click on the gallery tab above. Upload the files add description, title, etc. Then click on the image again and you’ll see a button labeled something along the lines of “Insert into post”.

Hope this helps.

I want to find a wordpress theme website?

This is the ones that I have used in the past:

But it has changed somewhat now.

Wordpress looking different in IE7 to IE6 ?

HI

A common question I would have thought.

http://acknowledgedwebtest.info/cartridge/

The page sits fine in FF and IE7 but not in IE6, whats the problem.

Basically the the menu is to high up and not 'floating to the left' and the sidebar is moving down below the 'content' but atleast on the right.

I realise I probably need to creat an second css style file but how do I get the positioning right on that one ?

I'm using http://ipinfo.info/netrenderer/ to vewi the site in different browsers.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

There is quite a big difference in the way that sites are rendered in IE6 and IE7 and Firefox. People spend lots of time trying to normalize the differences.

With your site the bottom two rules will help, add them to the css file. They work by using a bug in IE6. It is usually called the star hack or universal selector hack. IE6 has a problem with widths and margins, displaying them incorrectly in size.

* html #sidebar-wrapper {
width: 33%;
}

* html #navigation ul {
float: left;
margin-left: 10px;
margin-top: 65px;
}

The link will show you how to put the css in its own stylesheet, if you're worried about having invalid code with your current stylesheet.
