adding a Counter to a Wordpress blog?

I want to add a counter to my wordpress blog, where in my template html should I put the counter code?

At the point you want the counter to appear (or not at all if the counter is designed for a single page).

Is it possible for me to edit a website,using Dreamweaver, then run it on wordpress.org?

i understand about web design, but find Blogging at wordpress.org much complex…
now, can I have a site built in Dreamweaver OR any other Web design software Uploaded to Wordpress.org????

plz assist…

WordPress.org doesn’t offer blogging on that site. WordPress.COM is the site you can blog on.

At this time, they don’t allow you to upload a template you create. Most themes do allow you to make edits to the CSS, and some offer a great deal of flexibility.

Your best bet, if you want something truly unique that you design is to host it yourself.

Where Can I Find Customizable Wordpress Themes?

I would like to find either a wordpress theme website or a wordpress plugin that would allow me to edit my header by replacing the default header title with my blog title without changing the code. I do not know how to read code, let alone change it so I am looking for something simple that would allow me to edit the theme from my wordpress back office. I am finding alot of themes that I would like to use but when I upload and install them, it’s not coming up with MY blog title. I hope this makes sense. Can someone please help?? I am spending way too much time on this.
I have tried the WordPress directory but they dont have anything that I like. I would like to purchase a premium theme but I want to make sure that I will not have any problems trying to edit it or it will be a waste of money and I’ll still be in the same boat.

How can I embed this WyldRyde IRC chatroom into my Wordpress blog page?

I want to Embed this chatroom on to my wordpress blog: <div id="#wrchatframe" style="text-align: center;">
<iframe scrolling="no" align="middle" frameborder="0" height="540" width="700" name="flashchat" src="http://flashirc.wyldryde.org/getchat.php?channel=EleetGamerz"></iframe>
<div class="poweredby" style="text-align: center; font-family: sans-serif; font-size: xx-small; margin-top: 6px; margin-right: 6px; margin-left: 6px; margin-bottom: 6px">
<!–The following link and powered by graphic may not be removed or edited without making a minimum $250 donation to WyldRyde. Any channels that edits or removes these will be suspended.–>
<a href="http://www.wyldryde.org/" target="_blank"><img src="http://www.wyldryde.org/chat/poweredbywyldryde.gif" width="129" height="18" border="0" style="; margin-top: 6px; margin-right: 6px; margin-left: 6px; margin-bottom: 6px" alt="Powered by WyldRyde IRC Network. Add a free web chat to your web site." /></a><br />
<!– You may remove the following link if you wish. –>
<a href="http://www.wyldryde.org/chat/getchat.php" target="_blank">Add a web chat to your website!</a><br />
</div>
</div>

Not easily. Since it’s not written as a WP widget or plugin, you’ll have to find the place in the PHP that writes the part of the page you want to insert the chat window. (You’ll have to be able to read both HTML and PHP pretty well, and it’s not a 5 minute "here it is" process, unless you’ve been doing this sort of thing in WP for a while. [I write PHP code every day, but it would take me at least hours, maybe days, to find where to insert that.])

There are others with the same idea as yours, though – http://wordpress.org/extend/ideas/topic.php?id=777

You could try http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/wp-live-chat/ (I haven’t even downloaded it, but it sounds usable if you don’t mind using freenode IRC.)

I created a Text Widget with Word Press and I would like to modify the default CSS style of the text area…?

… which is: <div class="textwidget">

However, I can’t find the right CSS file under my FTP. :(
(it is not under /www/wp-content/themes it is Wordpress CSS related.)

Do you guys know the path to the right CSS file by any chance?

Don’t think folder "www" is correct one anyway, but could have given you the link to the CSS if you had given a link to a page that uses it.

Just look between the head tags of your page9s) for the CSS link tag.

can you legally modify wordpress templates look?

or do you jave to leave it as it comes… you might want to chage column sizes, colors ect.?

There’s a reason there’s a Theme Editor in every installed version of WordPress. :)

Actually, I wouldn’t go messing with a custom theme that cost me money, but modifying one of the common freebies should be no big deal. (I have one site using PhoenixBlue that hardly has any blue in it anymore.)

Using my web design with database solution like Joomla, Wordpress… or similar?

So I am a web designer, I design web sites in Photoshop and then I create HTML code. I am great with static web sites but I am not very good at web programming (PHP) and I would like to learn it but really cannot find much time for it lately. So my question is is there a way for me to create my own design in Photoshop/Dreamweaver and then use my own design with CMS solutions like Wordpress, Joomla etc… The point is I want to create database websites and update them trough CMS but have my own design used and not those templates that you can find on web for Joomla for example. So is this possible and which CMS solution do you recommend: Joomla, Wordpress or some other? Thanks

There are several Joomla! extensions to do exactly that, just search for "dreamweaver" on http://extensions.joomla.org/ to see a selection.

Dreamweaver writes some pretty ugly HTML, so be prepared to tweak it. You can check your static code at:

http://validator.w3.org/

http://jigsaw.w3.org/css-validator/

Which application that you use depends on how you want your site to operate. Joomla! is pretty much general purpose, while others are more specialized, like for displaying photos, running a forum or a blog, etc.

How to disable full story in Wordpress?

I have a blog currently running the latest wordpress and whenever I post, I always get the full story on the homepage. I only want it to be a summary and I want the user to see the "read more" option. Is there a plugin for this? Or do I have to edit the template? I already have the Reading Settings set to "Summary", but it still doesn’t work.

Edit the template. (Actually, you may have to edit several of them.)

Look for a line that says:

<?php the_content() ?>

Change it to read:

<?php the_excerpt() ?>

This will give you approximately 120 words before Read More kicks in.

(Settings/Reading/Summary controls your feed, not to your index page.)
