Customize Wordpress themes?
I’ve recently installed wordpress into my site.
The thing is, I don’t like or want any of the themes they offer.
Is there any way that I can make the blog have the same appearance/layout as my own personal site?
BTW, I only installed wordpress because I thought it might be better than CuteNews. If there are any FREE blogging systems out there, can you please recommend some? :]
Also, what can I use to have several comment boxes throughout my site? Like, one for blogs, and one for just feedback of my visitor content or something like that. Any ideas?
Please help! Thanks.

Can anyone decipher this poem? =)?
In my CW class we have to decipher/find the theme and suggest improvements for our classmates’ work. I’m having a little bit of a hard time with this one…
The water pushes through cracked, cool ice, whistling and tumbling over itself,
The wind pushes it onward, it cant look back; it has no desire to
Little whirlpools gather in front of a stone, beside it a clone:
A concoction waiting to brew.
His fingers extend, his legs curled around himself to protect from the cold,
He lets the water run through the gaps, swallowing his regret,
Words die before they get their opportunity to share their beauty, a treaty:
Each proposal an argument is met.
His efforts diminish quietly, for he has no other tools to capture his water,
He hesitates before walking onward, as far as he can go before the drop.
His stomach plummets with the height, forced down by bitter spite
Hes unsure of whats forcing him to stop.
The water, it laughs as it presses on, pregnant with alliance,
He can see its future, see that company will never be scarce to find
Too far to jump, too close to forget;
He knows hes left behind.
I think it’s comparing the waterfall to his ex-girlfriend but I’m not sure! And also, what improvements could I suggest? Thank youuuu! =)
I see here a waterfall that someone is considering jumping from.
Maybe a suicide?
It seems like he changes his mind though with the "what’s forcing him to stop" and "too far to jump" ideas, but I could be wrong.
I don’t see any connection to another person (girlfriend, etc.) but it mentions argument, and you might picture a fight with a girlfriend.
Suggestions for improvement? Geez, that’s always a tough assignment for creative writing, and I don’t necessarily agree with the pedagogy behind that.
I personally don’t find this to be very good, but I wouldn’t believe that’s my job as a fellow student to say. It’s inconsistent in meter. There’s this little quick rhythmic/rhyme thing going on at the second to last lines of the first two stanzas, and it creates an almost playful rhythm that seems inappropriate for the subject matter. Then it breaks free of that and keeps a more straightforward rhyme scheme for no apparent reason.
It tries to be cryptic in ways, but there’s a huge difference between revealing a meaning subtley and just sounding mysterious and pretentious. This crosses that line, I fear. It’s obviously very clearly meaningful to the author, but it suffers from not translating well. This is a common weakness of all writers–not being able to see that what’s in one’s head is not coming across so clearly on paper.
Poem’s shouldn’t be guessing games. You can be cryptic all you want if you are artistic and can get away with it. This isn’t, and doesn’t.
How does this first page sound?
Ok, so its the story of a young caretaker at a traveling circus. He is the elephant caretaker and soon garners a strange spiritual and mental fixation on the creatures, forming a religion around them and making his way across the country, hopelessly promoting his ideas. it is a story meant to be taken seriously so and it is meant to portray the theme that we shouldn’t judge people because we do not agree with what they believe.
————————————————————-
THERE IS a simple tune that plays when the tires of a car screech on the steady, gray cement of a driveway; when thick plumes of dust are kicked up from baking roads by the hooves of stocky young stallions; when the gentle summer wind rustles the emerald grass and flutters up waves in the puddles of warm rainwater. And it is this tune that we hear all throughout our country, whether it be to the north, south, or west. A gentle melody, reminding us of who we are, and where we came from.
But for some, like Kurt Russel, things weren’t exactly that simple. I remember the day as any other, it was a haunting day, a day that lingers in my mind forever more. And it is a day that I believe has changed the lives of so many people. I was a reporter for the Free Press newspaper in my hometown of Kingsbury. I had travelled to the fair grounds to cover the events on the first day, interviewing the carnival folk and seeing what life was like for them.
I still remember the day as a panaroma of what those men stood for: determination and ambition. It is truly a dissapointment that they have never been recognized for their greatness. The grass was wet and the smells of summer rain, shrouded sky, and muddy soil seeped into every part of me. I had brought my camera, notepad, favorite fountain pen, ready to jot down ever word and sound that crossed my ear. I was astute, alert, and prepared for any harsh curses I was sure to garner.
Also, what do you think of the idea?
Dude, see, every time I read something like this it just ticks me off because I can’t in my wildest dreams write this good. Fantastic, loved the way the words flowed in motion. How you prepared the foundation of the story and carried us to completion of the paragraphs. It had great depth and character. Almost like a good bottle of wine meaning most people won’t fully understand the bouquet of your story. The beginning was fresh and actually added stability for the Kurt Russel section in which I thought was a slight down draft to the previous. Very good finish, strong and solid.
Great Work!!
Wordpress question: How to display posts in a Page?
Can someone please dumb this down for me? I have no clue how to do this:
Create a Page Template with a query, and a loop, that retrieve and display the posts. Then via Administration > Pages > Add New, add a new Page with that Page Template designated in the Template field. Here’s an example developed using the WordPress Default theme:
