i need to start a forum.. still unsure about forum though. any way where i can download a theme for that? do i have to code? any way i want to start a page like www.complaintsboard.com are they using a forum?

It depends on the forum you’re using. If you were using PHPBB forum, you would google phpbb templates.

The complaintboard site isn’t a "forum" forum – it looks like custom software.

If you’re a fan of any pop group from korea or japan, you’ll notice that they have a "unique", or what is refered to in America as "metro" look. But at the same time is somewhat feminine to show-off the slimness compared to american style which is more to show off muscles.
i know of yesstyle.com, however where would i go for more fancy stuff? (perhaps its also french?)
i basically want to know of any online stores (creditable) that sell this kinda stuff.

I found so many Wordpress theme directories but which one is the cream of the crop?

I have been following various directories offering Wordpress themes and there is only one which stood above the rest. Themegrade.com not only lists free and premium themes, it is also the only site offering comprehensive reviews of all the themes listed there. The search feature is very friendly where you can perform multiple search using the check form, tag search or search by authors.

Compare Themegrade with other sites you find in Google and you will agree with me

I’ve used WordPress but I know there’s LOTS of others like Joomla.. I want a CMS that is professional looking and can integrate security, forums, blog style in some manner, maybe some flash animations?

It really depends on your needs, such as number of users, amount of customization required, etc. It seems like you need something with a lot of plugins (forums, blogs, etc.) and an out-of-the-box solution (security) rather than from scratch…

If you have the web host support and the knowledge to implement it, I’d suggest going with RadientCMS which uses the Ruby on Rails platform. It would encompass all you need while being fast and secure.

However, if you have little or no programming experience, I’d suggest going with something like WordPress or CushyCMS.

Can I fully customize and create my Wordpress themes in my Wordpress account (if so, how?), or do I need to host all my stuff on a separate website and install Wordpress to my computer in order to get full customization?

Hi Lauren,

First off you will need to download Wordpress, it’s free and simple to install. Once you have ran the install you can download the default theme which is what you’ll be editing.

Here’s what I did, I downloaded the default theme by downloading the Wordpress package from Wordpress.org and then opened up the default theme folder.

Now, I don’t know how good you are with coding, you could always do it without knowledge of HTML or CSS, but it helps if you do. You need to replace the CSS script in the default folder with your one, you then need to embed the PHP pages in your HTML with the PHP placed inside the HTML where the content will appear. You’ll need to set the title in the title tags as what you want to title to be for everypage as the HTML is not dynamic. Doing this should then place the Wordpress content inside your content section and it will follow the rules of your CSS. Upload both the new default file and the CSS (make sure you link to your CSS in the head part of the HTML) and it should put the Wordpress content in your theme.

It’s probably best to delete the sidebar, footer and header as well so that they can use the ones in your your design.

Basically, I’m entering my school writing competition, with the theme of ‘loss’ (generally, death). This is part three of the 1000 word story I’ve written. I’ll post the other parts, if you want to read more. It isn’t long, I promise!

Mrs McCallen was crying softly beside her daughter’s coffin. Her perfect makeup was trickling down her face in black and cream rivers, her shoes crinkling as she knelt and wept.
That one scene made it all the worse for me. I felt my own stinging tears well up, needling my eyeballs and spilling over to leave cold, wet trails down my cheeks. My hands shook, and I pressed them even tighter together to try and stop them. It only made my arms hurt. But it wasn’t anything in comparison to what was going on inside me, inside my heart. She had been so perfect. I had failed to see that. It didn’t matter about her sexuality, she was still Melody. Still the cheery child I had grown up with, gone through school with, gone to the doctors with, watched movies with, did every single insignificant thing that suddenly seemed so important with. All the times we had huddled on the couch together, wrapped up in my mother’s old sheepskin rug, watching bad horror movies and munching toffee popcorn, squealing together as the killer slashed through another unsuspecting victim’s heart or throat. I half wished one would run through the church doors to put me out of my misery.
My best friend was gone. Dead.
There, I said it. She was dead; she wouldn’t come back, wouldn’t go to university, wouldn’t fall in love and marry and grow old and die peacefully in her sleep with her many great-grand children holding her hands. She wouldn’t ever get to see the end of the Nightmare on Elm Street series, never taste a strawberry ice-cream again, and never ace a test again.

Melody was buried in the churchyard in town, under the mild September sun. No depressing night-time burial or dramatic rain. The parish priest said a bunch of prayers, but I didn’t listen. My eyes were focused on Melody’s headstone:

That was excellent! It made me feel like crying, not even kidding! If the rest of your story is that good you should win!
One thing I’m curious about is when you mention: "It didn’t matter about her sexuality, she was still Melody." because it doesn’t explain what that means, but there probably will be somewhere else.
Also at the very beginning it says Melody’s mom’s shoes crinkled. How do shoes crinkle???

hi i pressed some buttons on my keyboard and the words got smaller. how do i make theme bigger again? i got a Dell windows computer.

Hold the CTRL key down and scroll the mouse forward. If that doesn’t work, try this:

If you’re using Firefox, press CTRL/+. As you might guess, CTRL/- makes it smaller.

In Internet Explorer, click on View->Text Size.

I have found sites provide reviews of Wordpress themes but very few of them offer SEO review of Wordpress themes. Any of you know a site which offers tons of Wordpress theme review in the SEO aspect?

You are right. Few sites offer SEO review in a Wordpress theme. I have found one which does just that. Go to Themegrade.com and click on any of the theme. You’ll be able to find the SEO test being done in the theme.

Wpthemereview.com also has a SEO score. But they are not doing a proper job in testing the Wordpress themes against SEO.
